Scientists hope that as the nanotechnology used in the chip evolves, it could lead to electronics which don't require batteries or mains power sony Vgp-bps2c battery sony vgp-bps9 battery .
Hailed as a milestone, it can use tiny movements such as the pinch of a finger to generate power.
The team, presenting their findings at the National Meeting & Exposition of the American Chemical Society, have used it to power LCD displays and diodes, as well as to transmit a radio signal once its generated power has been stored.
Dr Zhong Lin Wang, of Georgia Institute of Technology said: "This development represents a milestone toward producing portable electronics that can be powered by body movements without the use of batteries or electrical outlets.
"Our nanogenerators are poised to change lives in the future. Their potential is only limited by one's imagination."

Dr Wang said: "If we can sustain the rate of improvement, the nanogenerator may find a broad range of other applications that require more power."

The technology works by using zinc oxide nanowires, which generate electricity when strained or flexed.
This mean virtually any body movement - from walking to a heartbeat - can generate power.

Dr Wang's team worked to capture and combine the power of millions of the nanowires, which are so small that 500 could fit in a human hair.

Five nanogenerators working together Compaq pavilion dv6 battery Lenovo 3000 v200 battery produced about 1 micro ampere output current at 3 volts about the same voltage generated by two regular AA batteries.

Dr Wang said: "While a few volts may not seem like much, it has grown by leaps and bounds over previous versions of the nanogenerator.

"Additional nanowires and more nanogenerators, stacked together, could produce enough energy for powering larger electronics, such as an iPod or charging a cell phone."

5 Security Tips for Windows XP by batterylaptoppower.com

windows xp security tips 5 Security Tips for Windows XP

It is very important that your Genuine Windows XP is safe and secure from outside infection and hackers.  Most of the times, we ignore the security measures and we really have to pay big amount later on.  With the help of below mentioned security tips; you definitely will be able to make difference:

Automatic Updates

One of the best method to secure your computer is to run updates on your machine. You can change the settings and make them enabled. You can even schedule the time for running these updates. It will also help to speedup windows xp and eliminate errors.

Update your operating system

It has also been observed that people do not update operating system which may cause some security issues. You must keep your system up-to-date so that you can prevent your system from various security issues. It also helps in making your Anti-virus software windows xp error free.

The system must have genuine anti-virus software installed which may protect valuable data, files and your personal information. There are lots of anti-virus software available on the internet and not all of them are reliable. They even may remove important data files and registry entries from the system. In order to protect the system, you must buy anti-virus software rather than downloading it for free. I recommend Bitdefender Anti Virus, because it is relabel and powerful one.
Internet passwords
If you are using wireless internet connections; there are various possibilities that people may use the same connection in your vicinity. Some hackers may also be using your connection for downloading illicit material fromthe internet. In order to prevent this situation, you must keep a password for accessing the internet. This will provide you protection from hackers and bad people. You can then freely brows internet.

Create limited access accounts

If your computer is being shared by more than one person; then you can give limited access to people. This will help you protect your computer from the persons who may misuse it for downloading software and other applications.
Security is the main concern for most of the people and they can perform above mentioned tasks to get the better results. You can get help from professionals who have knowledge and experience in providing security on computers.

    It's that Can't Live with Gmail ?

On April 1, 2004, Google announced that it was getting into the e-mail business. Its Web-based, ad-supported service, Gmail, wasn't much more than a basic inbox with a great search feature. But it offered 1 GB of storage for free in an era when 1/250th of that amount was considered luxurious, leaving some observers — myself included — wondering if the press release trumpeting Gmail was an April Fools' prank.

Nowadays, when Gmail makes headlines, it's often for service hiccups. Outages and slowdowns, usually brief and isolated, are fodder for both news stories and panicky tweets ("Is Gmail down for everybody or just me?"). Last month an embarrassing bug crippled the service for about .02% of users — 30,000 folks — for five days. When you're as central to the way people get stuff done as Gmail is, trouble for a tiny percentage of users is still trouble for a lot of people. (See 10 Gmail tricks you might not know.)

Gmail's biggest challenge isn't its reliability record, which remains sterling compared with most of the corporate e-mail systems it's been known to replace. It's the sheer number of things it does. Little by little, 2004's stripped-down Web mail morphed into a kitchen sink.

The emphasis on crazy quantities of storage remains — I currently have 1.8 GB of e-mail and 5.5 GB of room to spare. There's no longer anything basic about the service, though. It's chockablock with features, options and related tools, some of which are only tangentially related to e-mail. You can use it to place phone calls to any landline in the U.S. for free. And make video calls. And send text messages or do instant messaging. You can manage your calendar on the left and your to-do list on the right. Did I mention Buzz, the Twitter-like social network that was briefly controversial last year before sinking largely unnoticed into the Gmail gumbo?

A Google engineer invented Gmail in his spare time, and the current incarnation still feels like a bunch of geeks built it to please themselves. More than 50 features reside in its Labs section, a repository of optional, experimental tools that's an interesting peephole into the minds of the developers. Some of the Labs features are straightforward and useful, like extra keyboard shortcuts and the ability to view Flickr photos inside messages. Others are a tad idiosyncratic, like Don't Forget Bob, which looks at a message's recipients and suggests other people you might want to add to the list. And a few are downright peculiar, like Mail Goggles, which forces you to perform simple math problems before permitting you to send e-mail late at night over the weekend — just in case you partied too heartily and are about to send a message you'll later regret.

I use and like numerous Labs features, but exploring the offerings always leaves me wishing that the Gmail team spent less time on quirky side projects and more time on the fundamentals. For instance, Gmail's user interface is a cacophony of links, buttons, menus and lists, with none of the pithy discipline of the Google.com home page. For years, the inbox let you read messages only in a threaded view called Conversations, which people tended to either adore or despise. It recently started allowing you to switch to a conventional, unthreaded view but still doesn't offer the option that makes the most sense to my particular brain: Conversations sorted in reverse-chronological order, like the inbox itself. (By organizing them with the oldest messages at the top, Gmail requires superfluous scrolling to get to the most recent items.) (See Google in TIME's list of the 50 best iPhone apps of 2011.)

Every so often, I get fed up with Gmail and flee. Sometimes I abscond to a big-name rival like Microsoft's recently spruced-up Hotmail, and sometimes to a spunky upstart like Threadsy. (Thanks to Gmail's support for the IMAP e-mail protocol, it's possible to abandon it for an alternative and take your e-mail address and mail with you.) So far, I have always come skulking back. For all of Gmail's flaws, it has the same relationship to other e-mail clients that Churchill said democracy has to other forms of government: it's the worst one except for everything else.

Part of the problem isn't Gmail but e-mail itself. Programmer Ray Tomlinson invented it in 1971, when the only people on the Internet were a smattering of government researchers and academics. Today e-mail is abused as much as it's used, by spammers, marketers, nutty uncles and others who bombard our inboxes. Once an unimaginably speedy form of communication, it can feel plodding and overcomplicated compared with younger, sprightlier alternatives such as Twitter, Facebook Messages and text messaging. Maybe that explains why young people aren't all that attached to it. (A recent survey said the amount of time 12-to-17-year-olds spent using Web-mail services like Gmail on their computers tumbled 48% in a year.)

In short, e-mail is ripe for reinvention. Google is doing its part with Priority Inbox, which monitors your Gmail inbox, watching which messages you open and attempting to push the one you'll want to read right away to the top. For me, the option seemed hopelessly crude and confusing at first. But once we figured each other out, it became a compelling reason to stick with Gmail rather than leave in a snit. (See the promises and pitfalls of cloud computing.)

Google's most radical rethinking of e-mail didn't show up within Gmail, however — it was with Wave, a stand-alone service that the company announced in 2009. Wave didn't set out to improve e-mail so much as replace it with a hybrid of mail, instant messaging, word processing and file sharing, and it was rife with big ideas. (As you typed a message, your correspondents could see it arrive character by character, typos and all.)

The company unveiled Wave with hoopla that might have impressed even Steve Jobs, put it into beta testing, and opened it up to the public. And then ... Google pulled the plug after just a few months when the service wasn't an immediate hit. It was a little as if Ray Tomlinson had given up on this e-mail thing in 1972. (Comment on this story.)

I hope the Wave wipeout hasn't left Google too timid. Reinventing e-mail may be a daunting proposition, but reinventing just one e-mail service — Gmail — would be a great start. And in this case, the best way to reinvent it might be to bring back some of the minimalist thinking that helped make Gmail such a wonder back in 2004.

a new kind of nano-structured battery will that charges in seconds

Imagine being able to charge your cell phone in a matter of seconds or your laptop in a few minutes.
That might soon be possible, thanks to a new kind of nano-structured battery electrode developed by scientists at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign.

The researchers found that their electrode can charge and discharge up to 100 times faster than existing devices while holding the same amount of energy.

High-storage batteries HP pavilion dv6000 battery sony vgp-bps8a battery that could charge and discharge quickly might make a number of still-marginal technologies much more attractive.

We guarantee our laptop batteries for full 1 year warranty and 30-day money back on every laptop battery.
For example, if you could recharge an electric car in minutes rather than hours, filling up your battery at a charging station would take no longer than the amount of time it takes to buy a tank of gas.

And batteries that gave up their stored energy quickly could mean uninterrupted solar power, pitching in when the sun goes behind a cloud and solar cells stop producing.

Electrical storage devices known as capacitors charge and discharge very quickly, but because they hold their charge on the surface of metal plates, their storage capacity is limited.

Batteries , on the other hand, can store much more energy because they hold their charge inside the bulk of a material, usually an oxide or a phosphate compound located inside the cathode.

Unfortunately, because these materials are not good conductors of electric charge, it takes a long time to get the charge in or out of a battery dell xps m1330 battery Dell studio 1555 battery .

Scientists have tried to get around this problem in the past by adding electrical conductors to the energy-storage material, but this reduces the material's volume, so it tends to lower the battery’s capacity.

University of Illinois materials scientist Paul Braun and his colleagues came up with a novel solution, published online this month in Nature Nanotechnology.

They built a tiny metal lattice with so many nooks and crannies that when it's filled with a charge-storage material, the electrons in the material never have far to go before reaching the metal and being conducted away.

Why iPad app developer Inkling will make textbooks ?

Recently, iPad textbook startup Inkling received financial backing from McGraw-Hill and Pearson-- two of the largest names in the world of textbook publishing. Inkling is producing “textbooks. Now featuring features.” How does this affect you? I’m glad you asked.

www.batterylaptoppower.com – Wholesaler & distributor of laptop batteries replacement for Power Tools Battery, Compaq, HP, Dell, Acer, Sony, IBM, Toshiba. Our notebook batteries are made from high quality battery cells, which offer the quality and capacity as their (Original Equipment Manufacturer) counterparts. We guarantee our laptop batteries for full 1 year warranty and 30-day money back on every laptop battery.

It always seems futile to start on this note, but I see no other choice. When the iPad launched, some of my friends and colleagues were among the naysayers, and I had very serious (and animated) discussions with them about the future uses and success of the iPad. Here we are at the beginning of a new age of technology. Right now, the book is commonplace. But why carry a backpack full of textbooks and notebooks when you can carry an iPad in a thin sleeve, slung over your shoulder?

Imagine not having to start the day carrying five textbooks in a backpack, along with all your notes, to class -- which, in actuality, is only part of your library of books that you need for the semester -- and then realizing that you forgot it was Tuesday and you don’t have psychology Dell inspiron 1520 battery on Tuesdays! Now you are stuck carrying around the wrong books in your bag for the whole day and missing a bunch of information that you know is going to be on the exam. The day is soon approaching when you will be carrying your iPad containing your entire library of books and then-some, along with all the cross-referencing material you could want.

The fact that your iPad will carry the books you need is only the beginning. Not only will you be able carry all of your books on the iPad, the books that it contains will be far more content-rich than any current textbooks. Matt MacInnis, the founder and chief executive of Inkling, sees the existing textbook as a skeleton and aims at “casting off the shackles of the book.” They want to add multimedia and interactive technology that could only exist within the world of the iPad. This will present a far more effective medium for containing and presenting information that the textbooks we have used for so long. As read on MobileBeat.com, the dell latitude d620 battery dell latitude d830 battery  technology is ripe for the picking and the publishers are starting to sense the change.

Currently on Inkling.com they show 55 titles and growing. But with the backing of McGraw-Hill and Pearson, and the partnerships of John Wiley & Sons, W.W. Norton, and Wolter Kluwer, MacInnis stated that they now have access to “95 percent of the content universe.” According to MacInnis, the 55 titles that they currently carry on Inkling will be up to 100 by the fall.

So are you ready? The technology wave is swelling and I think it’s time to grab your board and wax up.

Always On How the iPhone Unlocked the Anything Anytime Anywhere Future And Locked Us In

It’s Friday evening, and as usual I’m meeting somefriends, John and Rana, for dinner at 6. In a text message, John suggestsAlborz, a Persian place I’ve never been to, located in Pac Heights. The clockstrikes 5:45 as I step into the elevator and launch the app Magic Taxi. I tapthe “Book ride” button, and the app says to expect a cab to pick me up at Wiredheadquarters in about three minutes. The driver’s name is “Raj S.” and theestimated cost of the fare is $12.

While I wait on the sidewalk for Raj to arrive, Ilaunch the Yelp app hp dv2000 battery hp nc8430 battery to look up the address of Alborz. “1245 Van Ness Ave (betweenSutter and Hemlock).” It’s 5:48, and I look up as a cab pulls in front of me. Thatreally is pretty damn magical, I think to myself.

“Hey, Raj,” I say as I openthe car door. He looks mildly disturbed. “Can you take me to Van
    Ness and Sutter please?”

“Sure thing, boss,” he says, withjust a hint of an Indian accent.
My phone buzzes. There’s a text from Rana sayingshe’ll be a few minutes late. (Typical Rana.) “No worries,” I type in response.

“So where do you work?” Rajasks.
“Oh, I write for Wired, thetechnology publication,” I chirp.

“Wired!” he says. “I loveWired! So that means you get to play with a lot of cool gadgets, huh?”“Sometimes. I mostly cover Apple, actually, so I write lots of stuff about theiPhone. It’s lots of
fun—documenting how this technology is impacting us ona big-picture level.”

Raj’s tone of voice changes. “OK—so bear with me for asecond. You’re a good guy to talk to about this.”
I hit the power button on my iPhone to put it to sleep.“Uh huh?”

“So I think it’s incrediblethat the iPhone has changed everything, and technology has done some prettyamazing things for us. But consider this: It’s making us stupider than everbefore.”
    I laugh. “Go on.”
“No, really! It’s making usidiotic. We rely
on all this technology to tell us where things are, what toeat. We don’t really know how to do anything on our own anymore. We’re becoming
anti-social, self-absorbed. We have all these problemsthat we create for ourselves. Bad reception, expensive phone Hp hstnn-ib45 battery Hp hstnn-q33c battery  bills. None of itis real!”

“Now consider this,” hecontinues. “The Amish are the smartest people on the planet.” I laugh again, harder.“What?”

Raj goes on to explain that he’s currently working tobecome an assistant professor in social science at San Francisco State, and foryears he’s studied the Amish. At the age of 16, Amish teenagers, he says, aregiven the freedom to leave their community to experience our “modern world” ofsex, drugs, alcohol and high technology. It’s part of a tradition called“rumspringa,” in which Amish teens can decide whether they wish to be baptizedinto the Amish church, or to abandon the Amish life for everyday society.

“Ninety-five percent of themgo back to their Amish life,” Raj says. “You know why?”
“Well, I think it’s naturalto gravitate toward what you’re used to,” I retort.
“Sure, but what they’re usedto is a more wholesome lifestyle than what we have. These people have realhuman skills and real knowledge because they rely so little on technology. Andthey have real connections, real love and even real problems, because they’renot communicating through all these digital barricades.”
The light turns green, and we reach Van Ness andSutter.

On my iPhone I punch in a $3 tip for Raj and press the“Pay” button, and I hear my receipt printing from the cab’s machine. “Well, hey—Ican’t say I agree with you for the most part—and I’d argue with you if we hadmore time—but what you say about what we lose is pretty intriguing. I just needto think about it some more.”

“The Amish,” Raj repeats. “Really, look into it.”
I thank Raj as I shut the car Hp pavilion dv5 battery Hp probook 4510s battery door behind me. It’s sixo’clock sharp, and I greet John inside Alborz. While we wait for Rana, I ordera cabernet and reiterate the conversation I had with Raj.

“That’s absurd bullshit,” hesays. John, a forty-one-year-old iPhone software developer, has never beengentle with his words. “There are plenty of Amish who use cellphones, sothey’re fucking hypocrites.”
I chuckle. “Clearly he’s generalizing, and if the cabride were thirty minutes longer the conversation would’ve been less silly. Butwhat we lose—that other side of the coin is certainly worth pondering on more, isn’tit?”
Indeed, for the months following that night, I spenthours and hours conversing with friends and technologists on the topic of whatwe gain and what we lose in the iPhone future. As a technology news reporterfor Wired’s website, every day I write a story about how the iPhone, and thetechnologies inspired by it, are changing our world. But why stop there? It’sfairly obvious what the iPhone and always-on gadgets can do today. The far morefascinating question is, what does it all mean going forward? How will thisphenomenon change society and business? What will our world look like in a fewyears? And perhaps even more importantly, how is this revolution reshaping eachof us individually?

It turns out the pros are about as fascinating as thecons are disturbing. The iPhone introduced the App Store, an experience whereyou can instantly download and use new apps that add to the device’scapabilities. With the tap of a download button, your iPhone can become a flute,a medical device, a high-definition radio, a guitar tuner, a police radioscanner and 150,000 other “things.” With the iPhone and the App Store, Appleunlocked what I call the anything, anytime ,anywhere future, which has far-reachingimplications for everything. If we have accessible data everywhere, the way welearn in classrooms, treat medicine, fight crime, report the news and dobusiness are all going to have to transform.

For individuals, the iPhone is turning humans intoalways-on, all-knowing beings. Even without medical training, a person with aniPhone Hp elitebook 8530w battery HP pavilion dv2000 battery can use a first aid app to learn to treat a victim’s injuries in anurgent situation. (A near-death earthquake victim in Haiti, as a matter of fact, used a medical iPhone app to treat his wounds and, ultimately, survive.) Withthe same device, he or she can use a real-time traffic monitoring app to findthe quickest route to a destination. Data has become so intimately woven intoour lives that it’s enhancing the way we engage with physical reality. Finally, the physical and digital worlds are coalescing to turn us into the all-knowing,always-connected beings we’ve always dreamed to be. And it took just one“phone” to push the industry in this direction.

And in the world of business, the benefits forconsumers are fairly obvious. The iPhone changed our standards for what weexpect from technology, and businesses are being forced to give us more for ourmoney. We don’t want seven pieces of hardware to perform seven different tasks;we want a single gadget capable of doing anything-anytime-anywhere. Soon, itwill be impossible for manufacturers to sell single-function gadgets lacking aninternet connection, because they’ll soon be made obsolete . And duly, a largenumber of companies and industries find themselves threatened, because nearlyany dedicated single-use product can easily be replaced by a downloadable app.

But as ideal as it may sound to have anything-anytime-anywhere,it’s particularly concerning that Apple—a company famously obsessed withcontrol—is leading this revolution. Apple not only controls the manufacturingof the iPhone hardware; the company also oversees everything that appears inits App Store. Apple approves, rejects or retroactively pulls any apps it sopleases. It’s almost as if Microsoft not only sold you Windows, but also ownedevery computer Dell vostro 1520 battery Dell studio 1555 battery and every store in which it was sold, and controlled everydeveloper that wished to sell software for the computer. That sets a troublingprecedent of censorship, which can stifle innovation and fosters conformity. Astechnology becomes more intimately woven into our lives, the implications of asingle point of control over our digital experiences are threatening creativefreedom.
On top of that, we must also consider what we give up asindividuals in exchange for the incredible perks of anything-anytime-anywhere. Inevitably, the more we immerse our personal lives into digital media, we give up privacy. Businessesmaking apps have more information about our personal lives than ever before. Also, the application of basic civil rights is not keeping up with the rapid pace ofhigh technology: Police officers, for example, have the legal right to snatchour phones and look through all our personal information without question.

Furthermore, after repeatedly sending text messagesand e-mails in between checking Facebook and hopping on phone calls, it’sworthwhile to look in the mirror and ask ourselves, “What is the i in iPhone?”That is, how am I changing as a result of being bombarded with all this data? (Iactually found myself asking this question a lot while writing this book, holedup in my office in front of a computer for a year.) Are we really gettingstupider, like Raj suggests? The answer turns out to be much more complicatedthan Raj thinks.
Make no mistake: All the aforementioned implicationsgo far above and beyond the iPhone.

Everybody is copying Apple’s sony vgp-bps8a battery closed, verticalbusiness model in hopes of replicating the success of the iPhone. Every majorsmartphone maker has rolled out iPhone clones and app store alternatives oftheir own, and their fundamentals (i.e., vertical control) are mostly the same.Apple’s influence is even seeping outside the smartphone market. Japan crisis probably won't end China keep up nuclear power

Though China has placed a moratorium on construction of new nuclear power plants while it updates safety standards, its insatiable thirst for energy probably means it won't steer away from nuclear power in the long run.

    Reporting from Beijing—
China has joined Germany, France, Russia and other nations now pledging to review their atomic energy programs in the aftermath of the nuclear crisis sparked by Japan's devastating earthquake and tsunami.

Premier Wen Jiabao announced this week that China would put a moratorium on construction of new nuclear power Dell studio xps 1340 battery Dell latitude e6500 battery plants while it updates safety standards. But China's insatiable thirst for energy will probably ensure that its long-term commitment to nuclear power continues.

China last year overtook the U.S. to become the world's largest consumer of energy. It depends on fossil fuels for 91% of its needs, much of that from high-polluting coal. Chinese President Hu Jintao has said he wants renewable sources to produce 15% of China's energy by 2020.

    Photos: Japan grapples with crisis

To meet that goal, China is developing wind, solar and hydroelectric power. But it's also building nuclear reactors faster than any other country in the world. China currently operates 13 nuclear plants, with 27 under construction and more than 150 planned.

"The Chinese have been building nuclear reactors like hot cakes for five to 10 years, and they're going to continue to do this," said Mark Hibbs, an expert on nuclear policy at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace.

Projects in China represent 40% of all new nuclear power Dell inspiron e1505 battery Dell inspiron 9400 battery plant construction worldwide. In the wake of the Japanese disaster, the Chinese market is likely to become even more important for companies such as Westinghouse, which is designing many of China's new reactors.

"Most of the developed world is going to put a freeze, temporarily, on new nuclear projects at least until they can learn whatever lessons seem appropriate from Japan," said Donald Straszheim, a senior China analyst at ISI Group. "But in China, new demand needs to be satisfied. Vendors worldwide, watching the stutter-step in growth elsewhere, will be increasingly amenable to dealing with China because they know that is where the long-term growth will be."

But entry into the Chinese market comes at a cost. The government typically requires foreign companies to partner with domestic firms and transfer technology.

Despite foreign assistance, China's nuclear industry is still playing catch-up, with most reactors being built with designs based on 30-year-old technology. Most of China's new reactors are being constructed along the nation's eastern coast, making them vulnerable to tsunamis, experts said. Questions also remain whether China will have enough qualified workers and safety regulators.

"China has made Dell inspiron 2200 battery Dell inspiron 1525 battery a big push to train engineers, but I don't think that's enough," said Yan Fuqiang, senior advisor on climate and energy at the Natural Resources Defense Council. "China needs to do more; otherwise, if a nuclear disaster happens, we won't have anyone to deal with it."

The World Nuclear Assn. noted in a review of China's nuclear industry that "while staff can be technically trained in four to eight years, safety culture takes longer at the operational level. This issue is magnified in the regulatory regime, where salaries are lower than in industry, and workforce numbers remain relatively low."

Corruption has also plagued the Chinese industry. The head of China National Nuclear Corp., Kang Rixin, was fired in 2009 for "a serious disciplinary violation," a frequently used euphemism for corruption, and eventually sentenced to life imprisonment.

One of China's oldest nuclear power plants, Daya Bay, in Guangdong province not far from Hong Kong, experienced several minor accidents last year. But the company's opaque reporting system gave little clues as to what the problems were. The most serious occurred in November and was rated Level 1 out of seven on the Internatiohttp://www.zimbio.com/add/Laptop+Reviews/articlesnal Atomic Energy Agency's incident scale. By comparison, the current crisis at the Fukushima Daiichi plant in Japan has been deemed a Level 5.

Although there were no health risks associated with the Chinese incidents, many in Hong Kong were concerned when Dell vostro 1520 battery Dell vostro 1500 battery  it was revealed that the most serious accident went unreported by the Chinese plant owners for three weeks.

Critics of atomic energy welcomed China's plans to halt construction and approval for new plants — if only temporarily.

"It is high time for the Chinese government to take a look at its nuclear ambitions, especially because of the high cost and long build times," said Li Yan, a climate and energy specialist at Greenpeace. "With the Japan nuclear crisis, it provides the Chinese public a chance to understand they are also very close to nuclear power plants."

Lithium ion batteries - disrupting supply of chain for electronics on the earthquake

battery power news post by batterylaptoppower.com

It's now becoming increasingly clear that the global supply chain for electronics is going to be far more affected by the earthquake-tsunami-nuclear crisis still unfolding in Japan than previously thought.

Take for example the attention today on lithium ion batteries used in notebook PCs. Demand right now is not terribly high--it's a time of the year when consumers are buying fewer PCs--but consider what happens if the crisis persists. As Taiwan's Digitimes observes, a good bit of the world's production ecosystem for lithium ion batteries Dell vostro 1700 battery Dell studio 1555 battery used in notebooks are not only located in Japan, but many are in areas affected by the quake or within the evacuation radius of the troubled nuclear power plant there.

Sony, which makes notebook batteries, and Hitachi, which makes a key battery part called an anode, both operate plants in the disaster area, and both have been shut down for the time being, according to a research report from Pranab Kumar Sarmah at Daiwa Securities in Hong Kong. Numerous other companies that make battery parts also operate in the disaster area, and most of them are affected.

Lithium Ion (Li-Ion) Battery doesn't suffer from the memory effect at all.

What about the iPad? I just heard from Wayne Lam, an analyst at iSuppli, the research firm that tore down the iPad 2 the other day. He tells me markings on the iPad 2?s three-cell battery pack include a label that reads "assembled in China." However, he says that applies only to the finished battery pack. A closer look at the markings reveal a reference to "Apple Japan." He thinks that's sufficient proof the battery cells came from Japan. "Typically, battery cells are made at the site of assembly, but since this li-ion polymer battery is unusually thin, it may be the case that it requires battery cell manufacturing technologies that Japan has."

Then there's the LCD display market. LCD manufacturing is an extremely precise process, one that doesn't take kindly to the power shortages and rolling blackouts caused by the loss of generating capacity at the crippled Fukushima Daiichi power Dell inspiron e1705 battery Dell inspiron 9300 battery plant. Typically, Japan derives about a third of its power capacity from nuclear power, and this plant constituted a big portion of that. Again, it's Sony and Hitachi plants located in areas affected by the disaster. Between them, the two companies produce 90 percent of the world's supply of Anisotropic Conductive Film, an interconnect material that's widely used in LCD panels.

Another key part in LCD displays--a color polarizer--is made by Fuji Film. Dale Ford, another iSuppli analyst, said earlier this week there have been indications that supplies of these have been impacted, which will drive prices up, which will in turn be reflected in the final price consumers pay for their TVs and monitors. Something tells me the lingering effects of this disaster are going to trouble the tech economy for some time to come, especially if the state of Japan's power grid remains uncertain.

Top Tips Make Your PC stay fastly and safely ?

One of the most frustrating things in life is a slow computer.

Every few years, we buy an expensive new PC and love how fast it starts up, runs programs, and loads websites.  Inevitably though, it starts to slow down until eventually we are pulling our hair out waiting for it to do routine tasks.

Why is this?  It turns out the answer is actually quite simple and you don't even need to be "technical" to understand the causes and solutions. The good news: It's not the computer hardware Dell d620 Laptop Battery HP DV6000 Laptop Battery that's the problem.  In most cases, the hardware you have is perfectly capable of being restored to its original glory and kept in fast running condition with minimal effort.

Rather, the problem lies with changes that occur to the PC's software.  The two most common causes of slowdown (along with easy solutions) are:

    1. The most common problem: registery errors

Every time you (or your kids) load a program, game, or file, your PC's software registery is updated with new instructions needed to operate that item.  However, when the item is removed, these instructions usually remain on your PC.  Every time you run your computer it tries to execute these instructions but, because the related program can't be found, it causes a registry error.  Your PC is doing a lot more work than it should be and the result is a significantly slower computer dv6000 battery pavilion v6000 battery.

One of the best ways to manage this is with a neat little tool from Support.com, a Silicon Valley based company.  It's called ARO 2011 and it scans, identifies, and fixes registry errors--resulting in a computer  that's a lot more like it was when you first bought it.  On top of the amazing results it offers, it's so easy to install and use that it was recently awarded a coveted 4.5 star rating (out of 5) by CNET's editorial staff and has been downloaded more than 30 million times.

You can now get a free working version of the software which will quickly scan your entire PC and identify all of the registry errors that may be bogging it down.  The free version also scans for junk and checks your PC's baseline security status.  It will eliminate the first 100 errors for free, and if you have more errors that you want to clean up or want to set the program to run on a regular basis (which is recommended), you can easily upgrade to the full version for just $29.95.  After that, registry errors will no longer be a problem.

To get the free version simply click here.

    2. Spyware and viruses

Spyware and viruses are software programs that are loaded on your computer pavilion dv4 battery pavilion dv6 battery without your knowledge or permission.  They have various purposes, including:

       * Changing the default search engine in your browser.
       * Tracking your Web surfing habits and showing you targeted advertising.
       * Using your email program to send out spam to other email addresses.
       * Stealing your personal information.

Most spyware and viruses get onto our computers through files that we download from the Internet or as attachments to emails.  They tend to take up a lot of computing power and, as a result, will significantly slow down your computer .

The simple rule of thumb to follow is to never download any free software programs from companies you do not know and trust, especially screensavers, emoticons, and the like.  In addition, you should never open any attachment to an email unless you are 100 percent certain you know and trust the sender.  In addition, make sure you have a good anti-virus/spyware removal software running at all times.

Follow the above advice and your PC should stay fast and safe.

Prostate cancer tests improving with new technology

When 54-year-old Jeff Rolf went in for his annual physical three years ago, he did not expect to come away with news of an abnormal PSA level and, eventually, a prostate cancer diagnosis.

But the level of prostate-specific antigen (PSA) in Rolf's blood had slowly increased between 2000, the year he first took the PSA test, and 2008. Doctorsbecame concerned not because the level was particularly high, but because it trended upward through the years.

Rolf chose to have a biopsy, which was positive for cancer. The Brecksville, Ohio, resident, a vice president of marketing at a major aerospace engineering firm, had a radical prostatectomy in 2009, and underwent radiation therapy in 2010.

"If there's a poison in your body, it’s a human reaction to say, 'Get it out of me,'" Rolf told ,Doctors say the PSA test is the best thing out there for prostate cancerscreening, but it's infamous for its lack of specificity. Many times, an elevated PSA level could be due to an enlarged prostate, inflammation or infection rather than cancer, said Dr. John Wei, a professor of urology at the University of Michigan Health System.

And even if the PSA test indicates a high risk of cancer, it's unable to differentiate between a slow-growing, nonlethal cancer and that of a clinically significant cancer, Wei said.

That may all change in the near future. The prostate cancer antigen-3 (PCA3) test, which is available for use but has yet to be approved by the Food and Drug Administration, measures urine levels of the genetic material mRNA. High levels of mRNA indicate an increased risk of cancer, and the results of a PCA3 test can add reliability to those of a PSA test to reduce false positives, Wei said.

    Looking into the future

It's impossible to predict when the FDA will approve the PCA3 screening test, according to Gen-Probe. But because screening tests are not the same as drugs, doctors are still able to use versions of the PCA3 test with the caveat for patients that even though it isn't yet FDA-approved, it has been shown to work in clinical trials.

Reviews : Top Tips to Extend Your Toshiba pa3534u-1bas Battery's Life

You seasoned techies are no doubt thinking, "Another article on how to get more life from your laptop battery. Big deal. I already know how to do that." Well, Mr. or Ms. Techie, I scoff at your hubris. There's still plenty to learn when it comes to getting more juice from a charge and extending your Toshiba pa3534u-1bas Battery's overall life.

    Getting More Minutes per Charge

You can fiddle with background processes and other software settings all you want, but your hardware is the biggest factor in battery life, according to PC Mag's lead analyst for laptops, Cisco Cheng. In fact, software such as power-management utilities can help minimize the impact internal components have on battery longevity. Knowing this can affect your buying decision if you're looking for a new laptop (see the "Picking a Laptop for Maximum Toshiba pa3534u-1bas Battery Acer um08a31 battery  Life" section below) or help you get the most out of the trusty laptop you've got. Here are a few ways to optimize hardware for maximum battery output.

       1. Turn off ports. Disabling unused ports and components, such as VGA, Ethernet, PCMCIA, USB, and yes, your wireless, too. You can do this through the Device Manager or by configuring a separate hardware profile (see next step).

       2. Create  power-Saving Hardware Profiles. Configure your laptop for the various scenarios in which you use it (on a plane, at the coffee shop, at the office, and so on). You can do this through the Hardware Profiles menu by right-clicking on My Computer and selecting Preferences or by using a freeware utility such as SparkleXP (for Windows XP users).

       3. Configure your display to turn off when not in use. This is different from just using a screensaver, because in many cases a screensaver still requires the display's backlight to be on. You can set the interval to turn the display off in Windows' Power Options—found in the Control Panel.

    Extending the Overall Life

The easiest way to give your batteryToshiba pa3533u-1brs battery  Acer aspire 5520 battery an early death is to damage it. And the two most common causes of damage are from overheating and using an AC adapter with the wrong voltage. For that, make sure to check the voltage of your adapter, especially if using a replacement adapter. Here's how you prevent overheating:
       1. Use a cooling pad when using a notebook computer on your lap.

       2. Avoid propping your laptop on a pillow, blanket, or other soft surface that can heat up or block cooling fans.

       3. Clean your desk. It sounds strange, but if you have a dusty, dirty desk, that dust will get into the vents and clog the cooling fan. Once the dust is inside your laptop, it is much harder to remove. You can try blasting it out with canned air, but you run the risk of damaging internal components. You can also remove the vent and clean out the grit, but remember that taking apart your laptop can void the warranty. So clean your desk at least once a week, if not daily.

       4. Try not to store your laptop in a place where the air temperature exceeds 80 degrees Fahrenheit, such as a hot car or an outdoor patio. And if your laptop heats up or is cold, let it return to room temperature before starting up.

       5. Consider taking your battery Toshiba pa3258u-1bas battery Toshiba pa3534u-1bas battery out when using your laptop plugged into AC power. Just make sure to keep the contacts clean. If you need to clean them, use rubbing alcohol.

       6. For lithium ion batteries, you do not need to discharge them fully and recharge constantly. Since they don't have the same "memory" as older nickel-metal hydride batteries, it is actually better to discharge a lithium ion only partially before recharging. You need to do a full discharge only about every 30 charges.

Picking a Laptop for Maximum battery  Life

If you're in the market for a new laptop, there are features and components you should consider to get the most mileage from the system's battery.

       1. An ultra-low-voltage processor, such as the Intel Penryn or one from VIA's line of ULV processors.

       2. A solid-state storage drive, which requires less power and, since there are no spinning parts, will suffer less wear and tear than a traditional hard drive.

       3. An LED display. Although pricey, LEDs use much less power than LCD.

       4. A smaller screen. A smaller screen means a smaller backlight, which will also save on battery drain.
According to Andrew Bradner, product line manager for APC, all lithium ion batteries are not created equal. The proof is in the pudding, or in this case the chemistry. Unfortunately, it is almost impossible to discern if the Toshiba pa3536u-1brs battery Toshiba pa3465u-1brs battery you're buying was manufactured in a top-notch facility using high-quality materials. And making that call is not as easy as assuming your laptop manufacturer's battery will be of better quality than a battery from a third-party vendor. But you can stick to a couple of key guidelines.

       1. Don't skimp on your battery . If you choose the lowest-cost battery you'll probably get a battery that degrades quickly, and you'll end up buying a replacement too soon anyway. So spend the money now to save expense and frustration down the road.

       2. Don't buy an expired battery. A good indicator of a battery's performance is how far into its product life it is, whether it's used or new. If possible, look at the bottom of the battery and find the manufacture date.

We've always been big proponents of determining what you want before you get to the store, so before we get into how you actually get an iPad 2, let's go over the options.

In the past Apple's kept its options fairly streamlined, but with the iPad 2 there are more options than ever. Actually, we figured out that there are a total of 18 SKUs, when you factor in the black and white colors, three storage options, and AT&T / Verizon 3G versions. Here are your choices!

    16GB32GB64GB
    iPad WiFi$499.00$599.00$699.99
    iPad 3G (AT&T / Verizon)$629.99$729.99$829.99

Naturally, those 3G models don't include the price of monthly data. Verizon and AT&T don't require contracts, but the pricing between the two carriers does differ. The handy chart below breaks it down.

So, should you go with Verizon or AT&T Hp pavilion dv2000 battery Hp pavilion dv2200 battery ? We can't really answer that for you since it comes down to where you live and your budget, but we we definitely suggest looking into which carrier provides better coverage in your area.

    Getting one

Apple's made things a bit simpler this year with the order process since both pre-orders and in-store buying starts on the same day -- yes, March 11th. Sales start in stores at 5PM local time. So, if you want to get your hands on the 9.7-inch tablet right away, you'll want to head down to an Apple Store, Best Buy, Target, Walmart, AT&T or Verizon store after 5PM to do so. There's no telling what the lines will be like so make sure to bring some reading material or charge up your phone.

For those that don't need to get that 0.34-inch thin tablet in hand immediately, you can order on Apple.com starting at 1AM PT. It will also be up for order on some of those other retailer's websites, including Walmart, AT&T, Verizon Wireless, and Best Buy. Walmart will offer free site-to-store shipping, so you can pick up the tablet at a local store without paying for shipping. It's not the fastest way to get one -- we're guessing it will take a few days to arrive at your local store -- but we bet it's the most peaceful!

    Accessories
Oh, you thought you were done spending money? Well, hopefully you have a bit stashed up for some of the new accessories. Apple's Hp pavilion dv6000 battery Hp hstnn-db42 battery got two new notable add-ons for the iPad 2...

    Smart Cover (Starts at $39.00)

Indeed, Apple has cooked up one smart cover. It attaches to the iPad with a self-aligning magnetic hinge, and not only can it be folded into a triangle to become a stand, but it will automatically wake or put your iPad to sleep whenever you open or close it. On top of that, it has a microfiber lining that cleans your screen each tip you flip it open. Yep, these are available in multiple colors -- the polyurethane versions will set you back $39 and the leather variants $69. Oh, and please don't call it a case!

    Digital AV Adapter ($39.00)
Yep, Apple's finally bringing HDMI-out capabilities with its new AV Adapter. The 30-pin connector lets you connect the tablet to your HDTV, Hp dv6000 battery Hp dv6500 battery and unlike the past VGA version, you can actually mirror the entire display. Oh, and did we mention you can also charge it at the same time?

    Other accessories

Obviously, there are some other third-party cases and accessories to consider. There are new ones from all the usual suspects, including Belkin and iSkin. We're actually big fans of that crazy looking DODOCase pictured above. Why wouldn't you want to conceal your new tablet in a case that looks like a bound book that's made of Moroccan cloth? Speaking of crazy cases, Grove has also made a new bamboo case with a leather cover, which actually claims to have the same sort of "smartness" as Apple's smart cover -- yep, it should wake and put it to sleep.

We're still digging around for some new keyboard cases, like the ClamCase, that accommodates the new slimmer iPad, but until then, Apple's still got its Bluetooth keyboard for $69.

    Now what? Apps to try

So, you've gotten your iPad 2  Dell latitude d830 battery Dell precision m2400 battery and some accessories, now what? It's time to play. Or work. Or read. Yes, there are lots of things you can do with your new tablet, and there are now over than 65,000 apps for the iPad specifically. Of course, there are a few new apps from Apple and others out there than take advantage of the cameras. Here are some we'd strongly consider trying out once you've got that iPad 2 out of the box.
    • GarageBand ($4.99) - We took a closer look at GarageBand in our full review and found it to be extremely intuitive and fun to use. There are eight tracks of recorded audio or software instruments, along with the ability to mix your levels, add effects, and even apply amps and stompboxes to your tracks.
    • iMovie ($4.99) - So, we may not have felt like the cameras on the iPad 2 were the best they could have been, but they absolutely suffice for shooting some video when out and about. And when it comes to cutting and editing that footage, iMovie is one of the best ways to go at this point. The app is full of movie templates and effects which you can apply to your clips.
    • Other photo apps - Apple bundles the iPad 2 Panasonic EY9025 battery  with Photo Booth and FaceTime, but there are plenty of other fun photo apps for iOS that are must haves for your new camera-equipped tablet. We tried out Instagram on the iPad 2, and while the company hasn't released an iPad version yet, it's still just as fun to apply filters on the bigger screen. We'll be keeping an eye out for more camera apps in the next few days.
We're planning on taking a deeper look at new apps soon -- so stay tuned. On that note, we'll leave you to your iPad 2 buying adventures.
