The iOS app contains a number of features

We see plenty of nifty apps come along with addictive potential, but a number of companies are going beyond software. Instead of just releasing the next best game, more ambitious retailers are combining apps with hardware, in this case, toys. Specifically, we’d like to share a new offering by Brookstone, the Rover, a RC tank with some secret agent gadgets.

Brookstone To Sell The iOS-Controlled Rover Wireless Spy Tank Starting Next Month

The Rover is a spy tank controlled by a free app installable on your iPad, iPhone, or iPod touch. Brookstone calls it a spy tank because the Rover has a built-in camera and microphone. The on-board camera does more than take pictures, it also sends live video and has an infrared feature for night conditions. That’s pretty cool, right?

Front - Camera and microphone

Some may be thinking this is essentially the ground vehicle version of Parrot’s AR.Drone. Well, it really isn’t far off. In fact, the Rover connects to your iDevice by means of a self-made Wi-Fi network, just like the AR.Drone. This method eliminates the need to keep track of and maintain a dongle that attaches to your iOS device, plus provides plenty of bandwidth for the video feed.

The iOS app contains a number of features not found on most other RC toys. Foremost, the live video streamed right to your iPad, iPhone, or iPod touch, including zoom and the ability to capture single frames. Another advantage is being able to control by tapping on arrows or moving your iDevice like a steering wheel using the G-Drive option. Of course, there are buttons for the infrared cam and more within easy reach.

ipad Accessories - How to Jailbreak your iPad 2 iOS 4.3.4 or 4.3.5

When the iPad 2 was released back in March of this year we knew that, like it’s predecessor the first generation iPad, it would revolutionize the way we use computers. Much like the iPhone that came before it, the concept of the iPad is setting standards across the industry and is causing a major shift in the way people use technology.

When I first got my iPad 2 cases , the first thing I wanted to do with it when I brought it home was jailbreak it. Unfortunately, it took a long while before a stable and easy to use jailbreak was released to the general public.

I recently purchased a great little piece of software from a website called Jailbreak-iPad2.net. I had been looking for an iPad 2 jailbreak for some time and found their website almost by mistake while looking for a way to extend my battery life. The entire jailbreak process took no longer than 5 minutes and I’ve since installed dozens of free apps and games, many of which are not even for sale in the Apple Store.

What’s great about Jailbreak-iPad2.net is that they provide you with a lot of useful information along with the jailbreak. This very welcoming for a complete newb such as myself. For example, they have a great step-by-step illustrated guide on where to find and how to install themes on your device.

Anyway if you’re looking for a safe and easy way for jailbreak your iPad 2, you should definitely check out their website at the link below. Their software works on all iPad 2 devices with iOS firmware versions 4.3.3, 4.3.4 or 4.3.5.

Surveillance Equipment - Parking Lot Video Surveillance Camera for Businesses

You’ve seen in all those televised crime dramas where a man is murdered or a woman kidnapped outside a mall or convenience store and no one sees a thing but, it is all caught on tape by the Safety and Parking Lot Video Surveillance and within the hour the “bad guy” is caught. But, that’s television land not the real world so you probably wonder whether you really need to have a safety and parking lot video surveillance.

That depends on how you look at things. If you believe that once a customer or employee leaves your store it’s a case of every man for himself then you probably aren’t going to want to invest in an expensive high tech video surveillance system. However, if you want to limit your liability for accidents that take place in your parking lot, prevent theft of your possessions, your customers, and your employees, and offer your customers a measure of security that makes them feel more comfortable doing business with you then a security system may interest you.

parking lot camera

Did you know that 80% of all crimes associated with offi
ces, malls, and retail stores take place in the parking lot? And that doesn’t count the number of customers who file suit against businesses each year claiming to have fallen and gotten injured or had their car dinged by a wayward shopping cart or a careless employee.
Having a safety and parking lot video surveillance system set up in your parking lot can:

• Protect you and your business from false liability claims
• Provide a margin of safety for employees and customers

• And add to customers satisfaction

If you have a security system that covers every aspect of your parking lot then that camera will catch what is happening whether you are watching or not so there is no need of worrying about having to pay or have your insurance company pay false claims of slip and falls or other negligence that con people and desperate people make in an effort to collect large sums. You’ll be able to prove the event didn’t happen.

Keeping your eye on your surveillance system when employees are arriving or leaving work provides protection for them when going to and coming from their cars. And since you can monitor your system from practically anywhere you don’t need to be in the building to call for help.

Studies have shown that businesses that provide monitored  Wireless camera sets for their parking lots and parking garages have increased customer satisfaction. Customers tend to like businesses they feel look out for their welfare and this results in increased sales.

Safety and Parking lot video surveillance may not come cheap but, it is definitely worth it in terms of safety for you, your customers and your employees.

AT&T Stirs Selection with Acer Iconia - 4G Tablet Showdown

AT&T is entering the most affordable 4G 10-inch tablet yet into the market contest this week with release Sunday of the Acer Iconia Tab A501. That should stir up the competition among 4G tablets, which include the rival Samsung 4G Galaxy Tab 10.1 on Verizon, as well the pricey HTC Jetstream on AT&T.

Of course, no tablet comparison is complete without considering Apple's iPad 2. It lacks 4G capabilities, but remains the most popular tablet with consumers to date.

If you’re in the market for a 4G 10-inch tablet, chances are you’ll have to get a two-year contract with your carrier of choice: AT&T or Verizon. The Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 comes for $530 on Verizon, while AT&T offer the HTC Jetstream for $700 ($850 unlocked) and the Acer Iconia Tab A501 for $330 ($480 unlocked). You can’t get the iPad 2 with a contract, so that’s $630 with either Verizon or AT&T. Besides the Jetstream, all tablets come with 16GB of storage (Jetstream has 32GB).

You’ll also want to look into the connectivity options: The Galaxy Tab runs on Verizon’s 4G LTE network and so does the Jetstream on AT&T’s LTE network, but the Iconia Tab works only with HSPA+ -- still fast, but not as fast as LTE. Data pricing is also something to seriously consider, as this can get very taxing: the Jetstream needs a minimum data plan of $35 per month for 3GB, while the Galaxy Tab starts at $30 per month for 2GB ($50 for 5GB, $80 for 10GB). With the Iconia Tab, you can either get a monthly plan, or prepaid -- $15 gets you 250MB and $25 hikes your allowance to 2GB (no overage fees on a prepaid plan).
The HTC Jetstream is the most expensive 4G tablet, but it’s also the most performing (on paper). It has a 1.5GHz dual-core processor, while the Iconia and Galaxy Tab also run on dual-core processors, but at 1GHz. All three tablets come with 1GB of RAM and 10.1-inch displays at 1280 by 800 pixels.

The thinnest and lightest 4G tablet is Samsung’s Tab 10.1, which is just as slender as the iPad 2 (and slightly lighter). The Iconia Tab and Jetstream are just more than a half-inch thick, and weigh 27 and 25 ounces respectively. The Jetstream and the Galaxy Tab run on Android 3.1 Honeycomb, while Acer’s Iconia A501 will come with the slightly improved Android 3.2 (Samsung’s and HTC tablets are set to receive the same update in the near future).

The Jetstream has an 8-megapixel shooter on the back and the Iconia Tab has a 5-megapixel camera, while the Galaxy Tab comes in at 3 megapixels. Compared to the iPad’s cameras, the Android tablets win by a long shot. The Acer and HTC tablets also feature MicroSD slots for additional storage, while Samsung’s Galaxy Tab follows the iPad, with a lack of expandable storage and a proprietary USB port. As an added bonus, you’ll find an HDMI port on the Jetstream and A501.

If you’re looking for the best value 4G tablet, the Acer Iconia Tab makes up for its bulkiness and slower 4G radio with its price, which even unlocked, is still the least expensive. If you want 4G LTE on AT&T, the only other option is the Jetstream, which despite its performance, is priced at more than double the cost of the A501. Meanwhile, Samsung’s Tab 10.1 strikes a fine balance between performance and price and runs on Verizon’s more widespread 4G LTE network.

Surveillance Equipment - The CCTV parking cameras that target innocent drivers

There's little more annoying than a parking ticket, particularly one that's completely unjustified. Yet the number of issued tickets has soared fivefold, with thousands of innocent drivers falling victim to automated spy cameras.

So just what is going on?

Four million tickets were issued in the UK last year – which represents a five times increase in a decade. While if we've made a genuine mistake or simply flouted a parking sign, most drivers are prepared to suck it up and pay the fine – an increasingly number of innocent drivers are being persecuted by new mobile CCTV cameras.

The cameras catch vehicles that only stop momentarily, and drivers can find themselves with automatically generated ticket through their letterbox with no idea of the apparent offence.

Figures from the Traffic Penalty Tribunal show this Wireless camera technology has caused the number of tickets issued to leap by 10% in the past two years, yet the number of successful ticket appeals has increased by 20% over the same period.

Sneaky councils

In one case that was thrown out on appeal, a council issued a ticket using CCTV footage of 'some 17 seconds'. In another rejected case, a fine was issued when a car stopped for 46 seconds to allow driver and passenger to swap places.

The report also highlights cases of camera cars parking on double yellow lines to catch errant drivers and councils that fail to put up signs warning drivers that CCTV is in operation.

Motoring groups said cash-strapped councils were increasingly using parking charges and fines to fill 'black holes in their coffers'.

The government advises councils to use automatic CCTV cameras "sparingly" as motorists regard such enforcement as "overzealous". Yet the Association of British Drivers said the damning statistics proved that the "war on motorists was far from over".

ABD founder member Hugh Bladon told the Daily Mail: "Councils are desperate for money and the motorist is an easy target. Things can only get worse."
